About Me
Hi, I’m Anjali — a psychotherapist, artist, and lifelong learner passionate about helping others reconnect with their most authentic selves.
My path into the mental health world didn’t begin in a classroom — it started in my own life. Growing up with mild cerebral palsy and navigating the layered experience of being raised in a South Asian immigrant household, I often struggled to feel like I truly belonged. I carried anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt silently for years. These early experiences shaped the way I now show up for others: with compassion, curiosity, and a deep commitment to creating spaces where people feel seen and accepted — exactly as they are.
Before completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Mental Health and completed a certification in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. I’m currently furthering my training with certifications in ADHD-focused therapy and Trauma (Levels 1 & 2). My approach is grounded in neuroscience and strengthened by creative expression and holistic healing.
I integrate brain science with expressive modalities like art, movement, storytelling, and somatic practices to support mind-body-soul healing. This means therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all — it’s tailored to your unique way of thinking, feeling, and processing.
I work with both individuals and youth (with over 8 years of experience supporting young people), and I’m especially passionate about working with neurodivergent minds, including those navigating ADHD. As a South Asian therapist, I also offer culturally sensitive care for BIPOC clients and anyone exploring the intersections of identity, family, and belonging.
Whether we’re connecting one-on-one or through a workshop, my goal is to help you feel grounded, empowered, and more at home in yourself.
Let’s begin the journey together
The Meaning Being “Skakti”
Shakti is a sanskrit word that means strength. Shakti Psychotherapy and wellness services are all about empowering you to find your inner power, put you first and heal. Although every individual is different, everyone holds their own inner strength, own power and their own ability to align their thoughts, emotions and behaviours to BE their authentic selves. At Shakti psychotherapy and wellness, we strive to hold a safe space for you, and meet you where you are at creating a space for you to flourish and grow.
The origins of Shakti are rooted in Hinduism and other Indian spiritual traditions. Derived from the root word "shak," which means "to be able" or "to have power," Shakti represents the divine feminine energy and power that is believed to be the creative force of the universe.
